Unsomble is a place for NYC area musicians to find each other, based only three characteristics: where they are, what they play, and what they listen to. The idea was that by limiting profiles to these three key characteristics (location, instrument, and influences), you could increase the signal to noise ratio for anyone looking for someone to play with. You can also filter posts by each of these three factors. The app uses Facebook connect so that it’s easier for people to start participating.

The first version of the site was conceptualized and created in a single day. The entire things was conceived, planned, built, torn down, and rebuilt again in about 6-7 hours. It offered no filtering and no Facebook integration, but the basic idea was there.

The next version will include more social tools, allowing you to post your post on Facebook, and will possibly add badges to the site to give a little more supplementary information about the users (professional or not, how long you’ve been playing, etc.). I think it should move toward a more complete search experience. However, as it is, with only three deciding data points, discovery should be enough.
